Carefully hand-poured in small batches from 100% pure European beeswax with a lead-free cotton wick, this candle offers a clean, even flame and a gentle aroma of honey and meadow blossoms.
Beeswax is prized for its minimal processing, non-toxic nature, and suitability for sensitive environments. It is naturally hypoallergenic and generally safe for people with allergies or sensitivities to synthetic chemicals. Unlike paraffin, beeswax does not release petroleum-based pollutants and tends to burn more cleanly with less soot. (While some sources suggest beeswax may emit negative ions that help neutralize airborne dust and allergens, scientific consensus on that effect is inconclusive.)

Before the first use, trim the wick just below the knot to remove the packaging. For regular burning, keep the wick trimmed to about 3 mm before each use. This ensures an even flame and prevents soot or flickering.
Kalina candles are designed to burn as leak-resistant as possible. They melt from the inside, forming a delicate inner wall of wax that acts as a natural barrier, creating the effect of glowing glass.
Because beeswax is a natural material, its burn can be influenced by room temperature, airflow, or drafts. If leaking occurs, simply blow out the candle, allow the wax to set, and gently trim the softened edge up to the leakage point. This helps restore its shape and ensures a balanced, clean burn.
Always place candles on a heat-resistant, non-porous surface to protect your furniture from potential wax overflow.
Natural beeswax tones range from light golden to deep amber depending on the season, the location of the hives, and the flowers the bees visited. Because of these natural variations, the color of each candle may differ slightly from the photos shown on our website throughout the year.
Each candle has a subtle, natural honey aroma from the nectar and pollen in the wax. Artificial fragrance oils, even when labeled as natural, can release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other substances when burned. Because of that, Kalina believes it is safer to keep candles unscented and let the natural scent of beeswax create a calm and healthy atmosphere.
Beeswax is naturally hypoallergenic and often well-tolerated by people sensitive to synthetic fragrances or smoke. It burns cleanly with little to no soot and is free from the petroleum compounds found in paraffin. Many believe that beeswax emits gentle negative ions while burning, helping to freshen indoor air and bring subtle relief for those prone to allergies or sensitivities.
