Smoked Oak Wood Cutting Board

This Smoked Oak Wood Cutting Board is a refined and modern essential for any kitchen or dining table. Made from European oak, a hardwood valued for its strength, density, and natural antibacterial properties, each board is finished with food-safe linseed oil to create a clean and non-toxic surface.

Designed with a minimal silhouette and softly beveled edges, the board works beautifully as both a cutting surface and a serving tray. Use it to prepare ingredients or to present bread, cheese, or fresh fruit. The natural oak grain brings warmth and texture to your kitchen or table setting.

Exceptional Craftsmanship

Each board is made by hand in a small Latvian woodshop using traditional techniques and a contemporary eye for design. The result is a lasting piece for those who value natural materials, attention to detail, and tools that are both practical and beautiful.

The Beauty and Benefits of Smoked Oak

Smoked oak is created through a traditional process that uses only heat and smoke to deepen the wood’s natural color. No chemicals or stains are added. This method activates the tannins in the oak, revealing a rich, dark tone while preserving the character of the grain.

The result is more than just visual. Smoked oak is durable, naturally antibacterial, and more stain-resistant than many lighter woods. It’s a material that performs well in the kitchen while adding a touch of timeless character to your home.

A thoughtful addition to your own kitchen or a meaningful gift for someone who appreciates craftsmanship and lasting quality.

Handcrafted in Latvia

Every Kalina board is shaped and finished by hand in a small Latvian wood atelier. Crafted in small batches using traditional tools, each piece carries the quiet imprint of the artisan’s touch. No two are exactly alike — a beautiful reminder of the natural materials and human hands behind every item.

Material: 100% solid smoked oak wood, finished with food-safe linseed oil

Please note: Because our trays are hand-made from natural wood, slight variations in color, grain, and shape are to be expected. These subtle differences celebrate the artisanal process and the unique beauty of each item.

Care Instructions & FAQ

Keep your handcrafted pieces beautiful for years to come — simple tips and answers to your most asked questions.

Simply wipe clean with a damp cloth after use. For deeper cleaning, rinse with warm water and mild soap — but do not soak or place in the dishwasher. Re-oil regularly with linseed, tung, or mineral oil to preserve its surface and longevity.

Tip: Always store the board dry, and avoid olive oil — it can leave a sticky surface over time.

We recommend hand washing only. Harsh dishwasher detergents can damage the wood and strip away its protective finish. If that happens, simply restore it by re-oiling with a food-grade vegetable oil such as avocado, flaxseed, walnut, or sunflower oil. Avoid using olive oil as it can become sticky over time.

Whenever it feels dry — around once every six months is a good routine.

No. Our boards are finished with 100% food-safe linseed oil — free from synthetic coatings, varnishes, or chemicals. A clean and safe surface for food preparation and serving.

Oak is a natural material and may absorb strong colors from sauces or spices — especially the lighter, natural finish. This is normal and will fade gradually with use.

Our smoked (dark) oak trays are less prone to visible staining thanks to their rich, naturally darkened tone.

Yes, this is completely normal. When exposed to water and heat for the first time, the natural wood grain can rise slightly, creating a rougher texture. Simply sand it lightly with fine sandpaper and reapply a coat of linseed or sunflower oil. This process smooths the surface and seals the wood again. After this first treatment, your board will stay smooth with regular care and feel even more pleasant in the hand over time.
