Before the first use, trim the wick just below the knot to remove the packaging. For regular burning, keep the wick trimmed to about 3 mm before each use. This ensures an even flame and prevents soot or flickering.
Kalina candles are designed to burn as leak-resistant as possible. They melt from the inside, forming a delicate inner wall of wax that acts as a natural barrier, creating the effect of glowing glass.
Because beeswax is a natural material, its burn can be influenced by room temperature, airflow, or drafts. If leaking occurs, simply blow out the candle, allow the wax to set, and gently trim the softened edge up to the leakage point. This helps restore its shape and ensures a balanced, clean burn.
Always place candles on a heat-resistant, non-porous surface to protect your furniture from potential wax overflow.
Each candle has a subtle, natural honey aroma from the nectar and pollen in the wax. Artificial fragrance oils, even when labeled as natural, can release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other substances when burned. Because of that, Kalina believes it is safer to keep candles unscented and let the natural scent of beeswax create a calm and healthy atmosphere.
